Really good station, got a toilet and lifts, generally easy to find. Staff helpful and they take android pay too!
By George (no not that one - he was from Blackpool) what a station! Where else can you pick fruit and veg to take home with you for free on a station platform?? Stairs and lifts to both platforms from the quaint old ticket hall, thankfully retained largely intact. Bike racks, free car-parking, proper brick-built waiting rooms, toilets and even a phone booth (if you can remember what one of those looks like) for persons whose mobile battery's given up the ghost. If passengers were to break out into a rendition of "Oh, Mr Porter" somehow one wouldn't be surprised - it's worth actually getting off the train here on a sunny summer's day just to savour the experience, even without vocal accompaniment.
A standard Mersey Rail experience, though the platform is better kept than most. Kudos to the Station Master and staff for the 'market garden' on the station - I didn't think Station Masters did that any longer. Thank you.
